Our Curriculum: Growing Minds, Strengthening Faith
At Grants Pass Adventist School, we offer a vibrant, student-centered curriculum that blends academic excellence with a deep-rooted love for Jesus. We don’t just teach subjects; we nurture the whole child.
Personalized Learning (Differentiated Instruction)
We believe every child is a unique gift from God with a personal learning style. Thanks to our small class sizes, our teachers tailor their methods to match your child’s individual strengths. Whether your student needs an extra challenge or a bit more support, we ensure they master the curriculum.
Bible & Spiritual Growth
Faith isn’t just a subject—it’s our foundation. Our Bible program focuses on building a personal, lasting friendship with Jesus.
- Daily Worship: We start every morning together in prayer.
- Weekly Chapel: Friday chapels help us reset and refocus on God’s Word.
- Character Building: We emphasize the “Fruits of the Spirit”—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness…. —in everything we do. Galatians 5:22-23 NIJV
Technology & Innovation
In today’s digital world, we prepare students to use technology with purpose and integrity.
- Classroom Tech: Every room is equipped with tablets or computers for research, typing skills, and interactive learning.
- Digital Citizenship: Students learn keyboarding, word processing, and presentation skills while being taught how to use the internet safely and as a tool to share God’s love.
Language Arts
From the first “sight words” in Kindergarten to complex research papers in 8th grade, we help students become articulate communicators.
- Reading Buddies: Older students love their weekly visits to read stories with our younger students!
- Critical Thinking: We balance creative expression with logic, always viewing literature through a Christ-centered lens.
Mathematics
Mastery of mathematics concepts is essential for career preparation, as well as an appreciation of God’s world around us. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are developed as math concepts are mastered, not merely memorized. Biblical principles are incorporated into the curriculum as our highly-trained teachers help nurture students who can function in a technologically-dominated society. We move beyond simple memorization to ensure students truly understand the “why” behind the numbers.
- Real-World Skills: From telling time to algebraic equations, students learn how math applies to God’s orderly universe.
- Problem Solving: We focus on logic and data to prepare students for a tech-driven future.
Music & Performance
Music is a powerful way to bring us into the presence of God. Students learn technique, music theory, and history while performing uplifting arrangements.
- Community Outreach: Our students share their talents in the community, local nursing homes, local churches, and during our popular Christmas and Spring Programs.
Science: Exploring Creation
Our science program celebrates God’s world “wonderfully and perfectly made.”
- Faith & Science: We believe scientific discovery and Biblical truth go hand-in-hand.
- Hands-On Discovery: Whether it’s watching caterpillars transform into butterflies or conducting physics experiments or gardening, our students use the Scientific Method and all lessons are supported by Biblical Principles.
Social Studies & Community
We explore history and culture to understand God’s hand in human events. Students learn about their responsibility to their community and the global world, fostering a heart for service and a respect for the diversity of God’s children. Activities cultivate an obligation and desire to improve the human condition. This was Jesus’ command to us: “. . . that you love one another as I have loved you” (John 13:35, NKJV).
